Toxoplasmosis of the central nervous system: Manifestations vary with immune responses

چکیده
Toxoplasmosis is an opportunistic infection caused by Toxoplasma gondii (TG), which affects one third of the global human population and commonly involves central nervous system (CNS)/brain despite so-called CNS immune privilege. Symptomatic clinical disease TG much more associated with immunodeficiency; clinicopathological manifestations toxoplasmosis are linked to individual responses including infiltration T-cells that thought prevent disease. In patients autoimmune diseases, status complicated mainly byimmunosuppressant and/or immunomodulatory treatment but typically accompanied supposedly fight against toxoplasmosis. this article, we review characteristics comparatively in immunocompromised patients, immunocompetent coexisting as well a representative case demonstrate brain lesions at different stages. addition general understanding toxoplasmosis, our reveals nonspecific, incidental pathological findings relatively common diseases (compared patients); such T-cell infiltrates vary acute chronic

BACKGROUND Neurologic complications can be the initial manifestation of atrial myxoma. Prompt diagnosis is of paramount significance to prevent recurrent complications. OBJECTIVE To identify patients with neurologic complications attributed to atrial myxoma. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PATIENTS With institutional review board approval, we retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 74 consecut...
متن کاملADENOSINE IN THE CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM
Besides being a metabolite of nucleotides like ATP, adenosine is a mediator of neuronal function in the central nervous system. Its actions are mediated by at least three extracellular receptors. In this review different aspects of adenosine such as biosynthesis, release, inactivation and its receptors are discussed. It also covers pre- and postsynaptic effects as well as postreceptor mecha...
متن کاملDengue in Patients with Central Nervous System Manifestations, Brazil
We investigated the prevalence of dengue in patients with suspected viral meningitis/meningoencephalitis in a dengue-endemic area. Cerebrospinal fluid analysis showed positive results and a 6.74× greater likelihood of identifying positive fluid in patients who died. Our findings support testing patients with neurologic manifestations for the virus in dengue-endemic areas.
متن کاملP77: NADPH Oxidase Type 4 Inhibits Immune Cell Trafficking into The Central Nervous System During Neuroinflammation
Transendothelial trafficking of immune cells into the central nervous system (CNS) and disruption of the blood brain barrier (BBB) are pathophysiological hallmarks of neuroinflammatory disorders like multiple sclerosis (MS). Accumulating evidence suggest that oxidative stress plays a major role in the pathogenesis of MS, whereas a specific influence of oxidative stress on BBB dysfunction in MS ...
